I recently subleased my apartment to 2 girls. upon rushing myself and my boyfriend to move out before we were 100% packed (and agreeing to let us return at a later date to finish) these girls refused to meet with us to sign any type of agreement. We had them added to my lease as "occupants" not as lease holders. The girls decided they wanted to keep my AT&T uverse account and we began with the account transfer. I did my part and for a week straight tried to contact the girl who was taking over the account. Very nicely everyday i reminded her she needed to call at&t before friday or i would have to disconnect, seeing as they also wouldnt pay the bill for this month. Friday came around and still no answer from her, so i disconnected the service. Again i tried to contact them to retrieve the att Equipment (2 boxes and a modem) asking them to take the items to the leasing office the next day (saturday) and that i would be there to pick them up. I went to the office on saturday and no boxes had been left. I tried to call, ring the apartments doorbell. No answer. So i sent them both a message saying i would enter the apartment on Monday if they did not return these items. I received a txt later that night stating they had left them outside the leasing office. I asked them to be "nice" human beings and to wait to take the Equipment up on monday. No answer. I went to the leasing office monday to see if they had been turned in... No one had seen any boxes outside the office and they had not been turned into the office. So now i have the last months bill from att and a $150 charge for each piece of Equipment that i have not returned. Is there any legal way to hold them responsible for this? I do have every text message that was sent between myself and both girls.
