I have a vending machine route that I am about to sell. My machines are in Florida malls. I have contacted the malls to ask how to put the leases into the new owners' name/company name. All the malls were fine, except for two that have the same leasing manager. She is making this huge deal about it, almost like "how dare you?" and saying we have to pay an early terminate fee of 2 months rent (it comes to over $1200). This seems really ridiculous. We aren't cancelling or harming her mall in anyway - they will collect rent uninterrupted. There is nothing about this in our lease agreement, other than any new owners or sublease agreements have to be approved by management. Does her action sound legal? I repeat, we aren't cancelling, but the people's names on the lease will change. So, is this with in her rights, and she's just a meanie?
