i have a question about publishing a book?

i have a great idea and from the research i have done, a original idea. its totally fine if it was just a local thing, i dont care how big or popular it is. i just wanna "run with it" and try it. so from my idea... whats next. is it best to find someone to publish for me or self publish. what legal stuff would i need to take care of. all that stuff. any advice is helpful, thank you
