ok this is about the Polish military so if anyone knows the answer i will really appreciate it

Is polish military still mandatory ?
my cousin said that he is going to poland just to ( i don't know how to say it in English - sign out ??) wymeldowac sie
from there cause he has no intentions in going to military at all and im wondering if i should do the same thing
im 18 and im living in USA for the last 5 years
he said that there might be some kind of letter send to our old homes with a request to appear in front of some kind of commission or something
i have no idea

a friend of mine said that everyone has to show up at the commission no exceptions
but what if i do not come ?? cause i have literally no intentions of flying those 18 or 19 hours ( both ways) just to meet with some strangers
will i get a fine or something else ??
i know that maybe this will come as unpatriotic but it really really not my thing i mean what is the point ? i will not just leave everything here , like school and others things just to fly there for probably like a week or maybe longer
i have nothing in Poland so there is nothing holding me there

I think they are in the process of phasing out mandatory service. But I don't know if that's still planning or if it has already started.

You don't HAVE to go, since you are living overseas. I would contact the Polish Consulate to find out for sure. I doubt they would fine you. The only problem you might run into, if you ever visited there, they might detain you and make you serve your time right then and there. That happens to guys all the time, visiting the homeland whether it's Syria, Israel, or Korea.

And, hey, Mike? You do realize the Danes have fighting units in Afghanistan right now? They actually fight, unlike many of our allies (I need name no names here.)

Poland does not have an army. The Nazis and Commies f'ed them up so good that their butts are still sore... thus they cannot march, let alone fight. Besides why would Poland need an army anyway? they always lose. They should learn from the Danish and just surrender next time.

I am afraid that I am unable to answer your question - I just don't know. However I would like to comment on the answer sent by someone called mike.

Poland does have a standing army - I believe it is the largest in Europe.
As for their ability to fight they are unbelievably brave.
At the beginning of World War 2 the Polish Army ran out of ammunition and all they had to fight with were lances. They charged the german tanks on horseback because that was all they could do. Those that came and joined the Royal Air Force were the bravest of the brave. Their commandos were brilliant soldiers.
I really get annoyed at stupid, uninformed people who slag off people from other countries without even checking their facts.
Grow up Mike- your nappy is showing and your dummy has slipped out of your mouth
