I have a question about a John Deere Walk-Behind Lawnmower 6 hp Kawasaki Engine - Ready?

I have this Walk Behind mower that I purchased about 6 years ago, it is made by John Deere and it has a 6 hp Kawasaki engine.

For some reason the other day it inadvertently stalled and now it won't stay running...it still runs but only when it is on choke and very weak running at that...but when I move it back to fast throttle it completely quits... it had a habit of rough idling...it would run and then kind of sputter, run smooth for a bit and then sputter....but it always ran smoothly while the blade was engaged until yesterday.

So my question I guess is, what would cause it to stop all of a sudden and not run but on idle and completely stop when the blade is engaged?

Are the overhead valves worn?

Is the mower worn out? I've ran the mower quite a bit over the past few years...I have a lawn service, and so I've put some hours on the power, I would say close to 2,000 - 3,000 hours.

Is there something else wrong that can be fixed on the mower so that I can continue working with it...because I hate to invest in a new mower when this one could possibly be fixed.

I've cleaned the carburetor...checked the fuel lines...put a new spark plug in it...changed the oil...done everything that needs to be done to keep it in top operating condition.

Any professional help would be appreciated. Thanks.
