I have a projector instead of a tv, can I still play the Wii?

I have an HD projector that displays onto the wall in my living room. Will I be unable to play Wii because I can't mount the motion detector on top of anything?

The sensor bar comes with the Wii console and can be placed anywhere near the display screen parallel to the screen's horizontal edge. Nintendo's developers went through several versions of the sensor bar. The final release version of the bar is approximately 20cm long and comes with its own stand for positioning in front of the TV.

I'm assuming there is some kind of startup procedure that allows you to define the edges of your screen so that the Wii can properly calibrate your wiimote.

However I could definitely see there being a limit to how large of a screen the bar will work with, so it could be an issue

but how will the system calibrate the wiimote? i dont remember seeing a calibration screen for the many startup screens for the wii posted on the interwebs

The Wii uses the three LEDs in the control strip to provide a central calibration point that eliminates this problem by recalibrating the controller's position every so often.

maybe there's something in the menus for manual calibration

i imagine since they are using a projector here, it should be fine. although i'm confused as to why the other dude is facing the opposite direction as miyamoto

edit - maybe he's not playing with miyamoto

i heard they had a 2v2 tennis match

miyamoto and some lucky fan vs 2 other dudes

k now i'll watch the vid

edit: maybe cause he has to talk to the audience?
