I have a problem with the gears on my bike?

I can go from gear 1,2,3,4 but when I put the gear to 5 the chain will skip the 5th gear and go to 6th, so the number on my handles will say 5 but the chain will be on 6th :/

When I come down the gears, on my handle bar the gear will say 5 but the chain will be on the 4th gear :S

Whats happened to it? Why arn't my gearss working correctly? It's a brand new bike.
 
You need to adjust the barrel adjuster on the rear derailleur. Do not touch the screws. You cant expect too much from a department store bike but it should at least work.
