Hi, if anyone out there knows about jeeps please help... i have a 1992 jeep cherokee loredo, and a few days ago i shut it off and the key would not come out!
then, i tried to go in the other direction (like if i was starting it) and it would not go that way either...its almost like something jammed and the jeep could not be turned on and the key would not come out. i wound up having to have it towed home .i tried everything from jiggling the wheel to yanking and pulling on the key, no luck!
the truck shifts ok so i am hoping it is an ignition issue, but would something like that just break with no notice? i mean i just turned it off and BAM instantly stuck! anyone out there have any clue as to what happened? maybe it happened to someone else before? if so, how much did it cost to fix and would it be a job for a mechanic or locksmith?
oh, and if it sounds like something other than the ignition please tell me.
oh, and would an ignition for a 1997 caravan fit?

come to think of it,, i think that it does shift into the gears without hitting the break petal, i will have to double check that in the morning.
the ironic thing is that with all my other cars, i used to have a million key rings and people would warn me that i would break my ignition, and never did,, now i have no key chains and this happens? its like karma
