I just bought the Valve complete pack off of steam (legally) and whenever I go to play games that use the source engine (such as counter strike source and Team fortress 2) the following occurs:
1. I get a message saying that the game is being prepared to launch
2. The message disappears and the game does not start up
When i opened the task manager, the game was not listed under "applications" however it WAS listed under processes.
-I am running Windows 7, 64 bit
-All my drivers are up to date.
-I have an ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics card
-I had a similar problem with LFD2 concerning D3D however I solved this by changing the launch options
-not all source games get stuck, portal ran without a problem, i suspect this problem has something to to with online play
Also, when I try to run Garry's mod, the game boots up, but gets stuck on the "loading screen" with the picture of the civilian holding the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator.
I downloaded this from steam and I do not see a prompt anywhere to RE-INSTALL, unless this must be done outside of steam.
I don't believe its because the games did not download properly because the games that don't work are the ones that use that source engine and that have online V.S. and CO-OP support, I'll give re-installing a shot though...
