How do i go about selling a private reg that is currently on my car?

I currently have 2 private reg's and want to sell one, however the reg i want to sell is on my car and the other is on retention, how do i sell the one on my car?

Do i have to put it on retention and then charge the buyer the £105? if yes how do i transfer it to their car
 
No, you put it on retention & pay the charge for doing so - a new number plate will then be issued to your car & you can sell the one you have retained.
Or, you advertise the number plate for sale & have it transferred directly to the buyer's car at a cost of £80;
