i know the basics that go into making a score but i want to know approximate numbers. how much does the score go down for each inquiry, collection account, late payment, closing an account, etc? i use to work in the credit industry and for a collection account i saw a score go up 100 points when it was removed from the report. the bureaus wont tell you will they?

I don' t know the total make up, there are several books out there that can give you and overview. Bottom line credit is valuable, and if you have derogatory/negative information, this needs to be removed, if it is removed, then of course your score goes up. By what points? I don't quite know, and I think each circumstance is different. No the credit agency won't tell you, because they believe in keeping everything a secret. They are not for the consumer.

I've been told 4points per inquiry. Different things have different weight, not specific points toward your score.
