I have a panasonic viera and the hd wont work?

the xbox 360 is currently set to tv mode and I get sound and low def picture, but when I switch it to hd I keep the sound but lose the picture.
I have red audio, white audio and yellow visual connectors in the AV3 slots if that helps?
