I have a mystery illness...anyone can help?

I've had a strange illness that I can't figure out. I've had it for around 5 months now. I've seen my family doctor, an allergy specialist, been treated by a naturalpathic (sp?) doctor and an acupuncturist and nobody seems to be able to tell me what the problem is or correct it.

First of all, I am a 32 year old male and prior to this strange illness I was in excellent health. I am also a competitive cyclist and I was riding my bike 150-200 miles per week and was feeling invincible! One day last August I suddenly became sick and I have not recovered since. I've been too weak and tired to ride (or exercise at all) and I also have a strange shortness of breath feeling that comes and goes. If I do try to exercise, I tire quickly and become light-headed. I've had lung tests and my doctors say I DO NOT have asthma or any decrease in lung function. I also have had a lot of sinus congestion that seems to also be part of the problem.

I have had a few sudden periods of just 3-5 days where the sickness has left me and I have felt completely normal, but then the sickness will then return again. I don't believe it is an allergy (pollen) as there are no allergens in the air where I live at this time of year (snow!) and have suspected mold, but there is no visible mold in the house I live in, however it is a relatively older home (about 30-35 years old) and I live in the basement. I've had blood tests done and everything has been normal. Don't know what to do as I feel like I have tried everything but something is still wrong. The fatigue is strange as it's not a normal tired feeling, it's almost more of a 'sick' achy tired feeling, but without any other flu or cold symptoms.

I believe my problem lies with my sinuses as the congestion seems to be an ever-present symptom. I've had hay fever all my life and do get sinus infections if I'm not careful and don't rinse my sinuses out with saline. Could I not be sleeping well due to reduced breathing and that is why I feel so tired? I had mononeucleosis about 2 1/2 years ago and also wonder if it could play into this, however this sickness has lasted longer than my bout of mono did.

Any ideas out there??

Sick and tired of being sick and tired!!!!!
