I have normal periods most of the time. Light to heavy flow, no real problems. But 2-3 times a year I get a period day so bad that I might bleed through a super tampon, panty shield and my clothes within 45 minutes. Do other woman experience this? My mom died when I was young and I never had a women friends to really talk about this with...I had a dad, a brother and mostly guy friends. I also bleed out whole purple chunks of what I perceive is my uterus lining. Some of these are pretty long and hard to control because they flip off of a tampon onto the floor when I use pulling force to get the tampon out. They sort of stick to the end of it.
It isn't all the time so I don't think I have a huge health problem but wondered if I could drink certain teas or take some kind of supplement to stop my period from being so harsh at times, but at 2-3 times a year I am never sure when that will happen. I am paranoid to go on trips or anything on my period anymore. Once I was caught at work and bled through my pants, my spare pair of pants and went home to get a 3rd pair I also bleed through. I was going through a super plus tampon every 15 minutes for two hours!
Do other woman experience this? Let me know. Maybe I am just normal, I am not sure.
I might also report I am in my 30's now and never had this problem when I was younger. The iron sounds like a good idea because I get tired and moody during the heavy flow times. I do use Super Plus Tampons when I can, but the place where I buy large quantities of them at a low price doesn't have super plus, only super. I've never heard of Ultra tampons, but they are probably fantastic. I guess this type of bleeding is normal from time to time, but since I can't second guess when this will happen (and it always seems to happen on vacation, July 4th, Labor Day...all holiday in the beginning of the month where my flow is), it is hard to get excited about holidays and vacation because I fear bleeding through my clothes all of a sudden and the bleeding is all of a sudden. I could be having a normal period or even light flow and suddenly it is super heavy.Usually it's for about two hours, where I use a super tampon every 15-45 minutes.I never seem to bleed this way for more than 4 hrs max
