C C7S Guest Sep 23, 2008 #2 When I use the brakes on my Protege, the engine loses power and it feels like it is about to stall. When I let go of the brakes, it runs fine. I recently had my clutch replaced and I believe the mechanic changed the engine idle to run at lower rpms.
