i have a logitech headset w/ mic attached and want to put it on my laptop?

Its a logitech headset w/ mic and it has a usb hookup on it and it fits in my laptop but i wana use it has a head set and when i go 2 youtube to watch a video the sound keeps comming up on my laptop speakers how do i fix it
i just tried it putting it to stero headphones and it is still has the sound comming from my laptop i have a dell computer with windows xp
