i have a fish tank it is a community tank and it has a brown cloudy flim i can't...

It happens almost always in new tanks. It's just a brownish-green algae that takes advantage of the imbalance of the tank. You can get a small algae eating fish like an couple otocinclus catfish (only grows to be 1.5", very peaceful fish, eats mostly algae if it can get it but will also eat raw zucchini and parboiled green beans and spinach if there isn't enough algae) or algae eating snails. Every time you tear down your tank, you are starting from scratch, have to cycle the whole tank again, and will get brown algae on everything. Try not to have to tear down your tank.
 
...get rid of can u help? it has a ugly brown cloudy murky flim in my tank i have tried to take it completely down and start all over and it stayed pretty for about a week and went right back to the brown murky tank i treated it for ick and algae and even put some tlc in it to regrown the good bactria. nothing has worked please help i have already lost 4 fish and don't want to lose more.

tearing the tank down was also a bad idea in that the stress you put your fish thru cycleing with them in it if you aren't up to par with what your doing will kill your fish.

in most cases a brown slime is a type of algae at the same time can be caused by over feeding can also be caused if you have any wood in the tank

now it is my oppion that once you tear a tank down it will take you a month to get it recycled even if you add things like tlc

in order to really help you I need to know what kind of filter system you have in your tank

the size of your tank

kinds of fish

and what and how often you are feeding them
also how long you leave the light on
