i have a few questions about my vegie garden requiring carrots and strawberries?

carrots: its been 20 weeks exactly since ive planted my carrots and i was wondering when to pull them out? it says on the packaging they should mature in 20 weeks or something like that but im not sure if there ready how do u tell?

strawberries: im so happy there growing and i have picked of one ripe strawberrie so far as it was a good size and red the rest are smaller and green so obviously not ready but i found that a really big red one was ready but had many holes obviously from insects and i found a slug in one of the holes :\ :\ how can i prevent insects slugs and snails from eating them?

I think the tops of the carrots will be really mature. Most homegrown carrots aren't as large as store bought carrots. They are kind of skinny.

You have to put a slug poison down. Slugs love strawberries; they are the number 1 pest. You can also try sprinkling baking soda on the ground. Salt may do the trick, too, but that is kind of cruel to use on a slug.

For the slug problem, you could try using what's known as copper tape. This gives them an electric shock once they come in contact with it.
