I have a dvd burner on my new computer and don't know how to make use of it...?

I would really love to know what I can do with my new dvd burner on my computer. Can I borrow movies from the library and copy them? Can I make backups of my movies? Also, I have a dvd camcorder - can I copy those dvds and send them to relatives? What are some uses for a dvd burner that is on your computer? Thanks for the help! Please be specific.

You can copy your movies but you need a program for that i love to store my mp3's on them as well as pics and other data.
