It's important to note the recent trend in innocent people who have been released due to DNA proving they are innocent. There are a lot of people sitting on death row claiming to be innocent. Most probably aren't but I wouldn't want to be the one to pull the switch on the person who truly is. There have been cases of people who were executed and then exonerated. I just don't have that much faith in the judicial system. Those who receive the death penalty are frequently those who can't afford an attorney and get a court-appointed lawyer, not necessarily someone who has their best interest at heart.
