I have a cd stuck in my car, help?

Idiotically I put a CD into my cars player while another one was already in so one of them got stuck. I can't get it out because the player no longer recognizes that it's in there. I tried using tweezers & I can't seem to get it. I have a 2004 chevy Cavalier if that matters at all. I called a place to fix it & he said he'd have to take out the whole system and send it in & that it was extremely pricey and not worth it. So does anyone know any other options, or ideas on how to get it out.

If you aren't afraid to take things apart it's usually pretty easy to get out. Take the stereo out of the car and remove the top cover. You should be able to see the CDs and figure out how to push them out. I've gone so far as taking the support cage off of the drive mechanism to get them out. It wasn't hard but you can't be afraid of it and you have to pay close attention to how it's put together to make sure you don't lose anything and can put it back together.

This seems to happen to Nissan Sentras a lot-- our 2004 ate a CD a couple years ago and hasn't spit it out to this day.

We got the same story you got. Not worth pulling the radio and sending it away. Most have advised us to get a new unit from a junk yard, if we ever go through the trouble of pulling the radio out of the (ridiculously hard-to-disassemble) dash.

If I were you and you really need CD capability, I'd replace with an aftermarket unit. Or, if you want to keep the factory look, go to a junk yard or two and ask if they have any 2004 Cavaliers you might be able to salvage a radio unit from.
