...need a new blower motor? When for the first time the heater stopped working I took it to Cadillac. They said i need a new blower motor and some of the wires are need to be changed too; the cost was around 900$ .i said no. When i took my car back I realized the heater is working again. Somebody told me that they probably used hammer to hit the blower motor in order to bring the life back to it but this is temporarily. Since then the heater has stopped working twice, but it started working again and I didn't hit the blower motor at all. It just starts working. So i have an intermittent heater, which is terrible in Michigan's winter? what should i do?

Sometimes they start with the blower motor and build the car around it so getting to it can be labor intensive. I suspect this is the case in your car going by the price they quoted. Shop around for one of these until you figure out what you are going to do.

Have a reputable independent garage replace the blower motor once they agree that's the problem. Don't go to one of the national chain stores or tire store repair centers. Look up the blower motor parts cost on http://www.autozone.com A shop's part cost will be somewhat higher. Ask if they need to remove the dash to replace the blower motor. If so, the labor cost will be higher.

do you have an auto zone in michigan? or a discount auto store? you can go there and ask them to run a diagnoses test on your car, and it will tell you everything thats wrong with it, nothing more, nothing less.

Go to your auto parts dealer, and buy a Chilton's repair manual. That will tell you if you should tie into this yourself. Sometimes the fixes are easy. Then buy your parts from them or go to a junk dealer.
