I have a automatic 2000 ford focus dohc engine..The car revs up when i let

my foot off the gas...why? the car will rev up alittle like its still trying to go when i let my foot off the gas pedal....sounds like when you put a car in neutral..but it mostly only does it when i let my foot off the gas. Could too much transmission fluid cause this? transmission slipping? it has a sohc focus transmission but i dont think their is a difference between dohc and sohc transmission. Could it be the transmission computer?

Power wash the engine. Check for proper throttle body and throttle cable attachment. Make sure cable is not sticking. Buy a can of Gumout, remove your IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, and spray it clean. Clean the throttle body and plate, as well. IF this valve gets dirty, the computer cannot lower your idle speed. Can be dangerous.
