i have a 96 suzuki gs500e and it will start but you have to keep it above 3000...

...rpm..how do i adjust my carb? please help..it will stay on if its above 3000 rpm but i need to adjust it so that it will idle by its self..how do i do this?
 
There should be a little knob sticking out of the left side of your bike. We call it the idle screw.

If you turn the bike on and stand it straight up, twisting the screw in one direction it will rev up, twist it back the opposite way will quiet it down.
The knob should click so you can measure clicks. One click up, one click down etc.
 
Well it also can be the carbs are dirty, try this. Go buy a product, it's cheap as its a fuel additive, called SEAFOAM you can buy it online or at your local car parts store it has a pic of a motorcycle on the can you buy. Then pour the proper amount into the gas tank. See below also
