...21, 37, and 52. I am the same ? person with the hesitating problem. Although I have noticed that the car hiccups MUCH less when I put a bottle of fuel cleaner in the car and when its a little fuller on gas, but then it goes back to being hiccupy. anyways I'm trying to figure out what exactly the 37th trouble code means?? I looked it up and the definition is "an open or shorted condition detected in the torque converter part throttle unlock solenoid control circuit" ????? What does this part do, and would this make my car hesitate? by the way I've tried nearly everything to fix the hesitating...
 
sort of a long technical question.. in short the torque converter should be locked when driving at moderate to high speeds and the throttle being held at relatively constant speed. (this increases efficiency and improves gas mileage). If the torque converter is not unlocked at low speed (or even moderate constant speed) it will not transmit power smoothly and the car will probably "buck" or "quiver" The unlocking operation is performed by an electrical switch (the solenoid) which is not working due to an electrical short (it may be intermittent, sometimes working) The car runs smoothly when it is working and "hiccupy" when it is not working. This is could be a major repair.Only an experienced transmission repair person can tell for sure.
Driving with the converter locked all the time will cause engine damage in time especially if you need to accelerate frequently. If you drive long distances at moderate to high speeds it might last for a long time.
stop and go driving with a locked converter will mean short engine or transmission life. Good luck this could be expensive...
