I Have A 1987 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. 4.0 Motor Is Blows Black Smoke Out Of The Exhaust When It's Running I Replaced The Computer And Lot's Of Other Things But I Can Get It Running And It Runs A Little Ruff, And It Smokes And The Timing Is Right And The Compression Is 120-150 Through Out All 6 Cylinders I Just Can't Figure Out What Is Wrong Can Anyone Help?????
It Is Fuel Injection. And I Put New Spark Plugs Wires Cap And Rotor Button. It Doesn't Use Oil Other Than It Leaking.

One other. Look at the front of the fuel rail. You will see a fuel pressure regulator with a vacuum line running to it. If that line is not there or cracked the fuel pressure at idle is too high and will do this.
Do you have a clean air filter?
Engine off. On the drivers side just below the throttle body is an EGR valve. Make sure it moves freely with your fingers. COLD ENGINE! If it sticks open at idle can cause this.
Good Luck
