i dont know what happened to it. i was driving and it suddenly lost all power and died. i popped the hood and a ton of steam was coming out of the hood. ive been told it spun a main bearing, and ive been told it blew a head gasket. i just want to get the whole thing rebuilt! replacement heads, possibly bore and stroke it if i need to. i just want it running again. i dont know much about what stuff is going to cost, or what may be the problem.i know my temp gauge never worked, my oil pressure gauge never worked and my speedometer need replaced. its in a 83 short bed chevy and its definately a budget build! i just want it running good again.

Are you going to have that engine rebuilt or just get a fresh rebuild one? If you don't care about the engine numbers matching you can get a used one from ever drive with a 3 year warranty for a reasonable price. Rebuilding your current engine would cost much more. There other rebuilt options available at your local auto parts store also for cheaper than you can rebuild your current engine.
