I have a cabinet from argos that is the exact same size so it fits ontop nicely . Its not real wood though its like that MDF stuff.. its like a giant plus sign + so they are the beams which would support it , and then it has sides and a back so its like this [+] ..sorry bad diagram !! do you think it'll hold the weight of my fishtank when its ful of water and sand and ....fish ? :0

Four and a half litres of water weighs 10 pounds, so you can work the total weight of the water, plus the weight of the tank to calculate a suitable support for the tank.

It should. Most furniture are designed to hold around 100kg, and 54 litres of water plus sand and fish will be much less than that - 1litre of water is exactly 1kg.

i doubt the weight of the sand, or even the fish will factor into it, the weight of the tank with water will be heavy enough, i wouldnt trust a cheap MDF cabinet from argos - buy something that is solid wood, oak, or a metal one or something - you could always cover a metal cabinet with a large sheet / blanket so it is hidden.

1 litre of water weighs almost exactly 1 kg, so you need something that can hold about 60 odd kilos. or 132lbs or 9 and a half stones.
