i have a 29 gallon fish tank and its been 5 months.?

the tank is cycled i got fish in here ofr a while and a creyfish that are healthy.my first question is if i buy a small 5 gallon tank and fill it up with the gravel from my 29 is it already cycled?i wan to get like a betta tank so wanted to know.my main question is im also taking out that gravel in my 29 and swithcing to sand.good idea?how can this be done the best and easiest way and what kind of sand is the best?
 
No, it doesn't cycle your tank really. Know if it was your filter being changes that would be different. Hope I helped!
