...plane. Bigger hydrofoil? The boat doesnt seem to get on a plane at 4800-5000 rpms. I cant afford trim tabs as I am already overbudget. Will adding a bigger hydrfoil make this happen for me?
 
Do you have the motor trimmed most of the way in? If so, check that your prop hasn't spun (come loose from its hub). Do you have too much weight in the stern? Move passengers etc to the bow to get it planning. I'm assuming the engine is running ok since you mention the rpms at a high level. If the boat has been stored in the water, you could have enough growth on the bottom to keep you from planning. The horsepower is a little light for this boat, but it should plane off without a bigger hydrofoil. If all else fails, a bigger hydrofoil would definitely help.
