terrible gas mileage of 14 MPG.? I have been told about replacing a chip,Well what chip?where? I would like to replace the chip if it improves my mileage but not willing to spend a mint to do so.The truck is an Edge which only has 31,000 miles.Im ready to trade it for a Chevy. Can anyone set me straight on the chip replacement.I have a 2001 Chevy 4x4 with a v6 that gets 18 MPGS in 4 wheel drive winter hi way miles.Thanks.
I have not checked the brakes,It coasts good and stops really good.I did have the codes read and all was good there.

1. Do not go for a Chevy or your head ache you are currently receiving will for ever be LONGER.

#2. Just check everything, injectors would be my first thing on the list, your air filter, or intake being blocked, did you take it any place to where something could have got up inside the box?

#3. Your over drive is it working corectly? Those Rangers ( the one you have ) They get A LOT better gas mileage then 14 I can assure you that. Check your brakes, if it's under warranty then hit up your local Ford dealer.

#4. Is you transmission shifting as it should, do you hear any abnormal sounds coming from the truck it's self. Try and get a trust worthy mechanically inclined person/ friend to take it around the block see if her/she can find the root of this unfortunate problem.

But what do I know I just work at a Horse Farm...Just kidding..( well I do work at a horse barn haha) We have ALL FORDS they all do the job, and suprise us all with performance, and reliablity even in the most crappy conditions.
