i have a 2002 jeep liberty and gauges dont work with the headlights on?

my gauges work fine but the second i turn my headlights on the all go as if the car was off every single one inlcuding gas gauge... well then there is no dash light either... and then all the little lights when you first start your car the oil and the abs and all that come on??? whats wrong!!!!
