i have a 2000 ford explorer and i need help to solve my prob?

i put it in reverse it hesitated for a sec then went but when i put it in drive my engine just reved it didnt go into gear so i put it in lower gear 1 it did the same thing but when i put it in lower 2 the gear boomed and it went as i was driving i put it back into drive it drove untill i came to a stop then i had to put it back into lower 2 to get rolling then switched it back to drive what could the problem be and how to fix it?
the transmission has never sliped or done anythin it isnt suppose to
 
do you know what a comma or a period is? Talk about a run on sentence....geez!!!!
 
Sounds like you have a bad transmission. A new transmission is going to cost more than the cars is worth. I would get a new car.
