I have a 1999 Mercury Cougar. My serpentine belt is not all the way on the main bottom

pulley.? I put it on the right way with a new belt. It has moved to the same place that it was before. Is it possible that i have a pulley that is moved out to far cause thats what it looks like.....If i have a bent pulley it would already have popped off is what I was thinking. I have gone like 3000 miles since I got the car and I have had no problems??
