How old is your battery? I'd look there first, as it's the cheapest, simplest, most common failure point. When my battery died everything worked perfectly in my car. Lights, radio, etc... But as soon as I turned the key, nothing.
It takes very little power to light up the dash and radio, but gobs to turn the starter over.
The usual cause is poor connections at the battery terminals. Pull and clean them.
