my gas gauge quit working at 3/4 tank full and I have driven 135 mile on it since I filled it. Mechanic told me it is in the fuel tank and would cost @ $550.00 to fix. how do I keep track of gas milage instead and when to get gas as I have never had to do this before and I'm not paying that much to fix it. thanks for any help.

hes right, its in the tank, but check the ground first, it might have lost its ground.

You can figure an average of 20 miles per gallon or more if you wish. Push your trip meter on the speedometer and set it to 0000 every time you put gas in the tank. When the mileage gets to 200 or 250 ... fill the tank and reset the meter. Easiest and quickest way to do it.
