I have a 1997 Toyota Camry. It turns on for a few minutes. Then it shuts off?

1997 Toyota Camry it is a 4 cylinder 2.2l. The last I was told is that the head gasket was replaced. And when i friend of mine checked the timing was wrong. So he ut it on timing. But not it only turns on for a few minutes then it shuts off. Can some one help me please?
