...what's the problem? it comes on like after 5 minutes of driving the car, no i don't touch the over drive button at all, does this mean i have a shortage, or is it a way to stop this, will this mess up the car, when the light comes on by itself, it automatically throws the car into overdrive,

Based on what I read, the light comes on as a type of code light to let you know something is wrong. Someone said it is like a "safe mode" so no further damage is done.

Honestly, I'd get rid of the Probe ASAP! I had a 1993 Ford Probe and had 1 problem after another when it got around 100,000 miles. I'm not the only one, I read all over the internet and found hundreds of other people with the same problems. The transmissions are bound to fail in the Probe, I have yet to meet 1 person who had one and didn't have the transmission fail. It's an automatic rebuild and it's never the same again. You will also have a problem with the car not starting. I forget what the exact problem is, but I think it was the mass air flow sensor (this is not a cheap part by what I recall). The cars are expensive to work on and parts are getting hard to find for them. That's just my 2 cents.
