i have a 1996 dodge stratus. i cant get the alternator off. i can not get one

bolt out. it just spins. why? i cant get the last bolt off the alternator so i can take the alternator off. the bolt just spins why is that and what can i do to get that bolt out so i can take out the alernator? thanks
 
The long bolt that the alternator pivots on has a nut on one end, you then have to pull it through,or tap it through.
