but i was a having a voltage issue? My voltage would drop when the subs hit and i heard that i could put a second battery in it, i was just wondering the pros and cons of doing this if anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it.

This is a problem I had. The number one power source in a vehicle is the alternator. If your alternator isn't functioning or isn't powerful enough to handle certain amounts of power then nothing in the car will function.

When the car is on the alternator is regulating and supplying power to everything that requires electricity while having to charge the battery as well. The alternator is your only power source when your car is running. The reason your voltage drops is because you are exceeding the amperage/current draw capacity of your vehicle's alternator. This could eventually lead to you having to replace you alternator. which isn't cheap for some cars.

As for another battery, that is a bad idea because it would only put more strain on your alternator and speed up its death.

The adjustments you could could make is you can upgrade the "big three"

1.Wire from the positive terminal on your battery to the alternator positive post

2. wire from engine block to chassis. This is to give more power to the ground.

3. wire from the negative terminal on your battery to the car chassis.

You also could change your power wire to 2 or 0 gauge to allow better current flow and reduce the strain on alternator. And also getting a bigger battery like an Optima battery could help.

If none of this helps then you should look in to getting a high performance alternator. but an extra battery or capacitor won't help.
Or you could consider downgrading your system. You can still have a great system though. but if you keep on like you are your alternator will have an early demise.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Pros - more amperage storage capability, more power available during high loads
Cons - alternator works harder to charge double the batteries and lifespan could be shortened

Something to think about.....if the amps are drawing more power then the alt can put out, the battery starts to lose potential....adding a second batt will only slow down the rate that the batteries lose potential, not stop it.

Its worth it IMO
