I have a 1991 Chrysler Imperial 3.8L engine. Brake Problems...HELP!!!?

My in-dash brake light and abs light suddenly came on, and the brake pedal became very hard. I just brought the car as-is 2 days ago so I cant take it back. I had the front brake pads changed (They really needed it!!) and that didnt help. I am assuming that the master cylinder went bad, or does anyone have any Ideas that I might check for?
 
that has a hydraulic pump an accumulator that gives you brake assist, the pump may be bad or the wiring it or the accumulator not the master
