...original or how do I know? The truck had a few problems when I bought it, including not having bolts to hold it in, but the mechanic who's working on it does not know ford well, and we are wondering if the electronic fuel injection on a 6 cyl engine in the 88 ford was something that came with that model or not. How do I tell?
The reason I'm asking is we have the repair manual but it doesn't have the vacuum hose setup in it, and the one I found at autozone.com might be right but we aren't sure. If the engine which is electronic fuel injection 2.9 is standard and the schematic I found is right then we are ok, if not, I need to figure it out. The schematic has a carbon can label and I have no carburetor as it's electronic fuel injected.

Chiltons Auto Repair manual will tell the pedigree for the '88 Ranger. There's about 3 different engines for Rangers. Bolts missing , huh? We got a new 2008 E350 van and in the first service they found all the suspension bolts loose. It took 4 visits to an independant shop to get it to stop blowing alternator fuses- they only had a 5 amp fuse installed and it was buried waaaayyy back under the dash, far from the other fuses in their fuse box. You wouldn't believe how quick a battery cound go down jus driving the thing a mile or two.. We just had to have the power steering pun\mo replaced because it was leaking, thank God for a warranty. I don't know, your Ranger might have its original motor, or someone whould have put the bolts in so they wouldn't be lost now.
