Ok, before you criticise me, let me explain. My dad bought me a 1986 Jeep Cherokee from an auction. It came as a fixer upper, and there was no key. The doors are unlocked, and I know exactly how to get by without a key, but Dad wants to get the original. I'd prefer to just get a new ignition for $10 from the local auto parts store than go several towns away to the Jeep dealer to get a key when I'm almost positve they can't do it since it's so old. I can't convince Dad to go the easy way, so now I've told him I'd find out about it, so here I am. Would they have it on record? How much does it cost?
Although I'd rather go the easy way, I'd like to be able to lock my doors. We have a short budget, especially since we have to fix it in the first place.
