Recently, the 'Low Coolant' light came on. Someone told me that I might have a blown head gasket or maybe even a cracked block. Thus, causing coolant to mix into the oil. They said that it would look like there was 'chocolate milk' under the oil cap. They looked under the oil cap and said that it indeed looked like something was mixed with the oil.

About a week ago, I put 'SeaFoam' in the oil to free a stuck lifter. We thought that this is what is causing the oil to look different. There is nothing dripping in my driveway or any other place I park, so I'm wondering why my coolant light keeps coming on.

What do you think is going on? Could it be a head gasket?

hi, the oil and engine coolant are in different sealed systems, they never mix, suspect the head gasket to be weeping as opposed to actually blown... its your 4 minute warning of impending disaster, i had a volvo do this... it took about 3 weeks... and then i scrapped it... well, it had been to the moon and back...

itll have probably gone between the cylinder liners and water jacket, in the centre of hte head... and nothing will fix it bar a new HG...

I've gotta 01 Suburban 5.3L,the same engine basically. My coolant light comes on when the coolant it low,& that's cuz my water pump is going out.Second thing is products i've seen from Sea Foam are for hydraulic and or gas. They say u can put it in the oil but i would'nt.Drain your oil & add new cheap oil cuz your gonna do this twice.drive around for about (2) days and re-drain and fill back up.And make sure your Dex-cool coolant is full.
