I have had this over 5 months I just did the MRI and found out what was wrong, L4-L5 Bulging L5-SI annular tear. 4 1/2 months ago the doctor had me do 10 PT visits and 10-unit, some meRAB, it did help only got worst. Feb 5 was the last appointment, aftr getting a lawyer I saw a specialist on May 12 and I had the MRI. Now I see another doctor June 14. I have pain on the whole right side of my lower back that wraps around my hip and half of my stomach, also down the buttocks and down the right side of my leg to my foot. my pain stays at 8-10, the PT about killed me. Can anyone help please! thx PamD

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I have had L5S1 herniation's and they can be very painful. It depenRAB on how your disc is torn, it may be so out of place that nothing but surgery could help. SteroiRAB or epidural shots can sometimes shrink the swelling for awhile especially if it is only bulging, and sometimes pain meRAB can take the edge off. You should see a spine specialist bring your mri and xrays. Some spine specialists are Orthopedic and some Nuerosurgeons. Before you have surgery get at least 2-3 opinions. There are lots of subjects here on the blog that you could read with similar cases. I hope and pray the dr can sort things out for you today!

Thank you for your reply and your prayers! I saw the doctor and he started a new treatment plan for me. first new medication ( and since I wasn't really taking much of anything for the past 3 months that will really help) he requested up to 3 spinal injections and to remain off work 30 more days. I'm a over the road truck driver. A Team driver with my boyfriend, we went from TN to CA and back every week 4500 to 5000 miles, the truck was moving 24/7 I hope I can get my life back! thank you again :)
