i have 1983 Honda Civic 1.3, I am experiencing blow by. Where should i start?

I bought a pcv valve but it looks like this car doesn't use one, am i just over looking it. Help! I know i need to get it pressure tested, but maybe there is something simple that i can try before i start getting technical.
