I had my ex arrested for assault and took an injunction out against him,can I

retract my statement? At the time the police twice asked me what I wanted to happen and I said I didn't want him to go to jail(he is still the father of my child and a good one) but now he has been bailed and is supposed to go to court next week? Is it possible I could retract my statement without being prosecuted for wasting police time? I also need to know if I went to the police staion to retract my statement would this have any effect with the social services? Please if anyone knows
