I got in a car accident last night. The car around 100 meters in front of me started skidding towards the left lane because of the wet snow. I saw that so I lane changed from the middle lane to the right lane and slowed down a bit to avoid the skidding car. After around 5 seconds, the car behind me changed from middle to right lane too to avoid the skidding car, but i think he lost control so he rear ended me full speed. So now my car is totaled. The police, EMT, fire trucks came to sort things out.
I have RBC minimum insurance that only covers the other person's car if it is my fault. So my question is, will my insurance help me with claiming from the other person's insurance? Or do I have to do everything, calling the other person's insurance, following up with the police reports and stuff? Please give suggestions on what should I do because this is my first serious car accident. Thanks for feedback.
