I got hit on the knee cap really hard by a cricket bat?

At school i was playing cricket and i got hit on the knee cap by the cricket bat i got sent home and it really hurts when i put weight on it and im going to the doctors tomorrow but i was wondering if i might need surgery and what is wrong with my knee i can move it but it hurts so could it be broken or what (PS its i dont know how to spell bruce and its swelled
