I got a ticket for driving a new car w/o a license plate, and went to court...

...and pled no contest...? ... I'm wondering, on job applications, since I did go to court over it, when they ask about it, do I put that down, since I went to court? I've asked law personnel and they've told me it wasn't a major offense, but some applications ask if you've ever been to court and pled over things OTHER than minor traffic offenses. This was a minor offense (so I'm told) that I had to go to court over (it was in another state and it's a law in the state that you have to go to court).

Some applications also ask if you've pled guilty/no contest to a crime. So, would I put that down? Or do they mean things like felonies? Are minor traffic tickets considered criminal?

I did ask a similar question in the past, but I forgot to put that I was required to go to court over it.
BTW, this was a few years ago-- not recently.
Thanks so much. I know there are different degrees of crimes; I figured tickets were low-on-the-totem-pole infractions, but still criminal.
I'm not sure. It was my boyfriend's car and he refused to drive... I didn't want to drive either cause I didn't want to get pulled over; but, I had to be somewhere the next morning and he refused to drive. He might have had papers, but I think he waited too long to get the tag-- I know you have so long to get the tag after you buy the car. I just wasn't sure if it was a criminal thing, b/c I know many people have to go to traffic court. I figured it couldn't have been that bad because I wasn't arrested or jailed that night, but he said I had to come back to court. I think in FL, it's a bigger deal to drive w/o the plate than it is in my home state. But, when he pulled me over I was technically in AL (hehe), so I guess that's why I ended up with the ticket/court rather than something worse. I guess I should be thankful for that. I'm just a bit paranoid because it was the first time I was pulled over like that.

A traffic infraction is NOT a crime. Paying a traffic ticket is considered a "guilty plea," even if you never go to court (in some states that's ok).

So on job applications, if it says have you ever been convicted or plead guilty to a CRIME, you say no. If it asks about your driving record, you say that you have had an infraction.
